A person disguised as a bush has been hiding in plain sight on city sidewalks, then jumping out to startle unsuspecting pedestrians. The reactions—from flinches to full sprints—are captured in a series of short clips that have drawn attention online. The only sound in the footage is laughter.
The Prank Setup
The prank appears simple: a figure covered head-to-toe in green foliage stands or crouches near planters or along the edge of a sidewalk. When pedestrians pass, the bush suddenly moves or a person emerges, causing them to jump, scream, or run. The costume blends with ordinary street greenery, making the scare unexpected. In one daytime scene, a couple walks past a large bush on a sidewalk; moments later, the bush appears to lunge. The footage is labeled "Bushman Prank" in on-screen text.
The audio track consists almost entirely of laughter. > "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, yeah." That reaction underscores the lighthearted intent behind the prank, though the startled responses are real. The prankster remains hidden inside the costume, sometimes emerging from a large planter or from behind a row of bushes.
Reactions Caught on Camera
The clips show a variety of responses. In one daytime scene, two women walk past a planter; one notices the bush move and flinches, while the other steps back. Another clip shows a woman pushing a stroller quickly away from the bush figure. At night, a woman in a pink top jumps back with her hands up. A man in a red shirt grabs his head after being startled. These reactions range from brief surprise to immediate retreat.
Some responses are more physical. In one clip, a person falls to the ground while trying to back away from the bush. In another, a group of women run from the bush figure. No one appears seriously injured in the footage, and the prankster stays in costume throughout. The scenes cut quickly, showing only the moment of the scare and the immediate aftermath.
In a different daytime scene, a man in a white shirt walks past a planter while drinking from a bottle. A separate clip shows a man crouching near a planter, peering at the bush. The variety of reactions—from flinches to quick retreats—suggests the prank lands differently depending on the person.
Day and Night, Different Cities
The footage is not from a single location. Some clips take place in bright daylight on busy commercial sidewalks, with storefronts and awnings visible. Others are shot at night, under streetlights, with palm trees and neon signs in the background. One nighttime clip appears to be near a Hard Rock Cafe, though the exact city is not clear.
The prankster uses different hiding spots. In some scenes, the bush costume is placed among real bushes in large planters. In others, the figure stands alone near a tree or a wall. The on-screen text "Bushman Prank" appears in every clip, along with a row of heart emojis. The compilation format suggests these are separate incidents edited together.
Why It Draws Attention
The prank is simple and relies on surprise. The bush costume blends into ordinary street scenery, so the sudden movement catches people off guard. The clips are short, easy to share, and the exaggerated reactions add to the entertainment. The video title explicitly calls it a "Bushman Prank," and the on-screen hearts suggest a playful tone.
It is unclear where or when the clips were filmed. The footage appears to be a compilation of multiple scenes, both day and night, in different locations. No official conclusion or investigation is mentioned in the sources. The prank raises a question about the line between humor and discomfort: startling strangers can be funny for some, but unsettling for others.
